Crocodiles are so common along the Yellow River in Australia's Kakadu National Park that you can see them from the air as they sunbathe along the river's edge. But, the best view is up close and personal, on a river tour aboard a pontoon boat. On my tour, I counted nearly a dozen specimens, some moderate sized and some simply huge, though all appeared deadly. Most of the time, we spotted the crocs on the muddy shore, but this particular beast in the photo decided to cruise along with us for several minutes, much to our delight. A master of efficiency, he tucked his limbs into his side and let his massive tail propel him where he wanted to go.
